Accessibility statement

Read this article in: English, Deutsch, Dutch, French

SoSafe is committed to ensuring the accessibility of our e-learning platform and content for all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that a robust cyber security posture requires inclusive and accessible training. Our accessibility requirements are based on EN 301 549 V3.2.1:2021 (PDF), which incorporates WCAG 2.1 AA.

E-Learning Content (v7 lessons)

For the latest generation of e-learning lessons (v7), we wanted to go beyond our internal commitment to accessibility. We thus partnered with Deutsche Telekom MMS GmbH - a DAkkS-accredited testing lab - to independently verify that our content meets rigorous industry standards. The audit covered our standard lesson templates and features across all 33 supported languages.

Our E-Learning content received a "good level of accessibility" overall, which exceeds usual industry standards. For people with motor disabilities or with hearing disabilities, it received a very good rating.

If you have specific legal or procurement requirements (such as BFSG or BITV 2.0), we also offer a configuration with minimal restrictions on accompanying audio narration. This configuration achieves full conformity with EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.1 AA and is rated with a “very good level of accessibility” for all user groups.

Recommendations for users

  • Fullscreen mode: We recommend sighted users use the fullscreen mode on the e-learning platform to increase the size of content elements. Users of screen reader software should not use fullscreen mode.

  • Video content: Our videos include full-text alternatives (accessible via the video navigation bar) and subtitles. The playback speed can be adjusted to suit your needs.

  • Audio controls: In the standard configuration, audio narration can be toggled on or off directly within the lesson interface.

Known limitations

We are continually working on improving the accessibility of our products. The following areas currently have limitations:

  • Video media alternatives: We provide full-text alternatives for videos rather than time-synced audio descriptions. Research indicates that a contiguous text alternative is often preferred by users of assistive technology as it can be consumed at their own pace.

  • Custom modules: We cannot guarantee the accessibility of content uploaded by customers via the "Custom Modules" feature. However, lessons generated through https://support.sosafe.de/ProductDoc/policy-to-lesson follow the same accessibility standards as our default lessons.

  • Certificates: The learning success certificate (PDF) is currently not fully accessible.

  • SCORM: Lessons delivered via SCORM use the same underlying content. However, the SCORM wrapper and customer’s Learning Management System (LMS) environment were not part of the audit scope.

E-Learning-Plattform

The e-learning platform itself (elearning.sosafe.de) was audited by Materna on October 9, 2024. The platform was found to be generally accessible to all user groups and thus conformant with EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.1 AA.
