This explanation shows you how to allow picture downloads in email messages from certain senders via Exchange PowerShell.

The content of this article and instructions have been created with utmost care. Likewise, no liability is assumed for damages or consequential damages resulting from the use of the offered contents.

Why is this relevant?

Automated emails are sent to users via SoSafe, such as the e-learning invitation, information about new modules or for password changes.

These emails also contain images. If these are not automatically downloaded and placeholders appear instead, users might experience emails with degraded formatting and distorted contents.

If picture downloads are generally turned off within your organization, it is possible to make an exception for certain senders. Specifically, this would mean that you allow the download of images for emails from the sender noreply@sosafe.de. This way, all emails sent automatically by SoSafe will be displayed in the correct and user-friendly format.

When using Office 365:

Each user can determine safe senders individually in their junk email options. As this is rather cumbersome and requires each user to do the configuration themselves, we recommend managing the setting for the whole organization via PowerShell.

To do so, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open PowerShell.
  2. Enter the following command (Cmdlet):
    Set-MailboxJunkEmailConfiguration “SoSafe” -TrustedSendersAndDomains @{Add="noreply@sosafe.de"}
  3. The email address noreply@sosafe.de is now added as safe sender for incoming emails within your organization
