This explanation shows you how to allow picture downloads in email messages from certain senders via Exchange PowerShell.
Why is this relevant?
SoSafe sends automated emails to users, such as the e-learning invitation, information about new modules, or emails for password changes.
These emails also contain images. If these are not automatically downloaded and placeholders appear instead, users might experience emails with degraded formatting and distorted contents.
If picture downloads are generally turned off within your organization, it is possible to make an exception for certain senders. Specifically, this would mean that you allow the download of images for emails from the sender firstname.lastname@example.org. This way, all emails sent automatically by SoSafe will be displayed in the correct, user-friendly format.
When using Microsoft 365:
Each user can determine safe senders individually in their junk email options. As this is rather cumbersome and requires each user to do the configuration themselves, we recommend managing the setting for the whole organization via PowerShell.
To do so, please follow the steps below:
- Open PowerShell.
- Please take out all users from your Active Directory who are part of the SoSafe awareness measure (e.g. from the corresponding security groups).
- Please apply the following command (Cmdlet) for all users.
Important note: identity needs to be a variable (e.g. from user emails or IDs).
- The email address email@example.com is now added a safe sender for incoming emails within your organization .
